Choosing the most suitable material for the main furnace of pyrolysis reactor depends on several factors, including the operating conditions, the type of feedstock being processed, and the desired durability and cost-effectiveness of the reactor. The following are two main materials for pyrolysis reactor in the common market, and DOING will take these two materials as an example to have an explanation for you:

1) Carbon Steel
Carbon steel is commonly used in various industrial applications, including pyrolysis reactors, which differ primarily in their mechanical properties and chemical compositions. For this material, it is cost-effective and strong and suitable for lower temperature pyrolysis, but it has lower corrosion resistance. So for the common recycled materials like waste tires and plastics, this material is ok.

Carbon steel also has different grades, such as Q245 and Q345. For a pyrolysis reactor, if the application requires higher strength and better performance under pressure and higher temperatures, Q345 would be the better choice. If the application does not require such high strength and has limited cost, Q245 can be a suitable alternative. Always consult with a materials engineer or a specialist to ensure that the chosen material meets the specific requirements of your project.
2) Stainless Steel
The common stainless steel for pyrolysis reactor is 304 and 316, which have excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties at high temperatures. If your recycled waste plastics have some PVC plastic, or you want to recycle oil sludge(like oil sand, coal tar oil, oily sludge contaminants, hazardous waste, etc.) then the common carbon steel material is not enough to meet your requirement, you'd better consider stainless steel as your pyrolysis reactor material, which is durable and can enhance the service life of pyrolysis reactor. Of course, this kind of material is costly compared with carbon steel.
